Entry Requirements for London from Us
This page reflects the UK Government`s understanding of the current rules for people travelling with a full UK citizen passport for the most common types of travel. To facilitate the consideration of a humanitarian or urgent exemption request, the following information must be emailed to the Embassy in London for each passenger submitted by the UK for submission to the CDC: Note, however, that the UK is currently classified as a very high Level 4 travel risk by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This means that travel to the UK should be avoided and all passengers who need to travel to the UK should be vaccinated. The CDC`s travel risk assessment is based on metrics such as cumulative number of new cases, testing rates, and test-to-case ratios, as well as data from the World Health Organization and other official sources. Most fully vaccinated foreign citizens can enter the United States. U.S. authorities accept any COVID-19 vaccine approved by the World Health Organization for emergency use or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These vaccines are AstraZeneca, BIBP/Sinopharm, Covishield, Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinovac. In addition, those who have received the full series of an active (non-placebo) trial of the AstraZeneca or Novavax COVID-19 COVID-19 vaccine are considered vaccinated. For more information, visit the websites of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S.

Visitors can also bring other merchandise, including perfume, gifts and souvenirs worth a total of £390. (Customs officers tend to be lenient with these general goods regulations because they realize that borders are unrealistic.) There are no restrictions on arrivals from the EU as long as the goods are for your personal use or gifts. Fully vaccinated travellers from the United States do not need to quarantine. Unvaccinated travelers from the United States must self-isolate for 10 days. Please read the details in the “Quarantine Requirements” section. Only people except or U.S.

All current U.S.-based visa holders who leave and return must comply with vaccine entry requirements, with some exceptions. When you arrive in the UK, you must follow the rules of the highest-risk country or area where you have stayed or transited in the last 10 days.
Information on the requirements for each country is available on the UK Government website. There are different rules for travel requirements to enter the UK when you are in transit. Requirements vary for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so please check the UK government`s website for travellers in transit and select the country you are passing through. If you need a test for international travel, you will need to get a test from a private clinic and not the links above in the NHS. Tests can cost between £40 and £500, depending on where you are tested and the type of test you take. COVID-19 tests differ in the time it takes them to get results (from 45 minutes to 48 hours). A list of potential test providers can be found on our COVID-19 Test Providers page. Make sure the test center knows that your test is intended to travel abroad (i.e. to the United States). Click here for information from the CDC on COVID-19 vaccination.

US citizens travelling to the UK are allowed to enter the country as long as they have not been in a Red List country within 10 days of arriving in the UK. However, on Wednesday 15 December, the British government removed all countries from the red list. New restrictions, which came into force on 7 December, require passengers aged 12 and over to present a negative PCR or lateral flow test before travelling to the UK. The test must be taken within two days prior to travel. All U.S.-bound air passengers are also required to provide their contact information to their airline prior to boarding.
